• Oximetry is not a recommended routine part of asthma/COPD management

• Signs and symptoms of worsening asthma/COPD include persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest tightness and wheeze. These symptoms should trigger the use of your prescribed reliever. If these symptoms don’t improve after using your reliever as prescribed on your Written Asthma/COPD Action Plan or they return within 3 hours, it is recommended to call an ambulance.

• It is more important to take action in response to your asthma/COPD symptoms than to wait until your oxygen levels drop We would recommend discussing use of a Oximetry with your treating health professional.

• For questions about your asthma, call 1800 ASTHMA.

• For questions about your COPD call – 1800 654 301
